Sabrina Carpenter on TikTok

Each month Fabulate’s head of strategy and talent Lucy Ronald looks at five of the biggest trends on TikTok over the past month and why it’s been taking over our algorithms.

In the club, we all fam

The "In the club, we all fam" trend, from Broad City, has taken off on TikTok since early October, with users captioning funny or unlikely group connections, like bridging generational gaps.

Brands can use it to highlight team culture, playful intros, or generational slang.

I need dimes, dimes, dimes

The “I need dimes, dimes, dimes” TikTok trend, from Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, has users humorously airing frustrations over scenarios where they feel shortchanged.

Brands are tapping into this by highlighting how they “bring the dimes” - or the extra value - for customers or poking fun at common customer gripes

Interpretive dance

One of my favourites of the month!

This trend basically showcases someone (partner, friend etc.) needing to do an interpretative dance in order for them to get something in return - whether this is borrowing an item of clothing or getting permission from your girlfriend’s roommate to stay the night.

Smart brands are using this one for new product releases or to bring an item back in stock by doing the interpretive dance.

But you make me wanna act like a girl

The "But you make me wanna act like a girl" trend features carousels of people, styles, or products labelled with playful traits (like “cute” or “cool”), ending with the favourite version set to the song lyrics.

Brands use this to highlight different product styles, ending with their top pick for a fun twist on versatility.

Yes you're getting those pants in every colour

The “Yes, you’re getting those pants in every colour” trend is another huge sound bite from Monsters: The Menendez Brothers, humorously celebrating items you love so much you’d buy them in every shade.

Brands can join by showcasing products with multiple colour options, tapping into audiences who love versatile choices.
