TikTok trends for agencies and brands - March

Each month Fabulate’s head of strategy and talent Lucy Ronald looks at the biggest trends and sounds on TikTok over the past month and why it’s been taking over our algorithms.

Gremlins, step machines and overcoming temporary setbacks (put to music, obviously) the past month had it all on TikTok.

Here are some of the top trending trends for March:

1. A Step for Every Time I…

Ever found yourself at the gym, zoning out on the stair-stepper? Same.

TikTokers have turned this boring chore into relatable content gold by stepping every time they've done something silly or stayed perfectly still to highlight awkward moments (think: "taking a step every time my joke lands" - cue zero steps, obviously).

2. How Life Feels to Actually Have A…

If wholesome vibes had a theme song, this trend would nail it.

People are pairing an upbeat, feel-good track with goofy dancing to celebrate simple wins like finally "having a skincare routine" or discovering they "actually have a personality." It’s basically an adorable flex on the small stuff that makes life great.

3. Temporary Setback

Life giving you minor inconveniences lately? Perfect.

This trend is all about creators hilariously stomping around in heels, filmed dramatically from below to match the sound “Temporary Setback.” It’s peak comedy - turning little annoyances into content gold, one exaggerated step at a time.

4. Stop for a Minute and Smile

Jessie J’s back on TikTok with this super-cute lip-sync moment.

Friends film each other dramatically flipping between huge grins ("stop for a minute and SMILE") and dead-serious expressions ("why is everyone so SERIOUS?"). It’s playful, relatable, and guaranteed to make you smile (even if you’re seriously trying not to).

5. Gremlin Trend

This one's exactly what it sounds like - people posting funny, slightly creepy pictures of gremlins with captions calling out their most relatable chaotic habits.

Think late-night snacking, agreeing instantly to spontaneous plans, or that feeling when someone else suggests dessert first. Because we all have a little gremlin inside us, right?

6. A Moment That Felt Like Hozier’s Yell

Inspired by Hozier’s famously soul-shaking vocals, TikTokers are using his powerful yell to soundtrack the most intense moments from their own lives - like finally quitting a toxic job or perfectly parallel parking on the first try. It’s all about big feelings and even bigger vibes.

7. ‘Anxiety’ dance trend

And finally, as has been widely reported, March saw a new trend using rapper Doechii’s song “Anxiety,” people have been re-creating a moment from “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” between Will Smith and Ashley Banks, played by Tatyana Ali.

It’s fair to say that dance is now everywhere on the platform.
