Survey 3 radio ratings results from GfK, the official provider of radio ratings for Commercial Radio Australia (CRA) have been released.
While 2GB's share slipped to 12.8 from 14.3 in the last survey, it remained ahead of the pack. Breakfast was 15.7 from 18.9.
3AW was 15.3 from 15.8. For breakfast, the station was 19.4 from 18.9.
Nine Radio head of content Greg Byrnes said the results reflected a strong start to 2022.
“After our best start to the year we've attracted even more listeners in this survey period," he said.
"The year-on-year result is impressive given 2GB is up over 21%, 4BC 15% and 3AW almost 10%. In Sydney, Ben Fordham and Ray Hadley are well up on last year.
"In Melbourne, Ross and Russ and Neil Mitchell have managed to hold the massive numbers who tune in each morning. We're committed to delivering the nation's best live and local news and opinion and thank our listeners for their loyalty."
ARN: "The network achieved another record result and continues to lead key metro markets with #1FM Stations in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. In Melbourne, GOLD104.3 has had record breaking results with more listeners than any other station in Australia, as well as #1 results in key dayparts; and on its fourth anniversary The Christian O’Connell Show takes out the #1FM position for the 16th consecutive survey.
"In Sydney, ARN maintains its dominance in Breakfast with KIIS 1065’s Kyle & Jackie O and WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda finishing in the #1 and #2 spots respectively. AND in Adelaide, ARN takes duopoly with Mix102.3 the #1FM Station and Cruise1323 the #1 Commercial AM Station."
Duncan Campbell, ARN’s Chief Content Officer: “Creating locally relevant content will always be at the heart of what we do, and the results speak for themselves.
"It’s particularly pleasing to see such strong results in Melbourne with The Christian O’Connell show, about to celebrate its fourth anniversary, spearheading the station to record results.
"Our content teams have an unparalleled understanding of their audiences and we look forward to continuing to deliver the nation’s best radio while evolving to meet listeners’ appetites with innovations like our podcast to broadcast strategy currently playing out on Saturday morning.”
