ThinkTV CEO Kim Portrate is leaving the industry body.

She was appointed CEO in 2016 when Russel Howcroft, then a senior executive at 10 now a radio host at 3AW, was chair. She had been CMO at travel service Helloworld.

Changes at ThinkTV had been foreshadowed. Seven West Media CEO Jeff Howard, in announcing December half results, talked about sharing resources across the industry and of the future of the industry body.

“Long gone are the days of each of us having a helicopter, we share helicopters,” he told analysts in a briefing.

“I think there's a lot more that we'll be able to pursue as we go forward.

“Looking at the industry bodies as well, we want to make sure we're getting the best value … so a lot to do on that front.”

Foxtel's withdrawal from the industry body and its subsequent departure from measuring system OzTAM last year was a catalyst for change.

A statement from the board of directors of ThinkTV talked of changes to the structure and direction of the industry body.

"The ThinkTV board thanks Kim for her unwavering dedication and support over the last 10 years," the body said in a statement.

"She has been a powerful advocate for broadcast television, delivering ground breaking research and campaigns that have ensured TV is the first on and last off the plan for many Australian advertisers.

"In the past decade, the industry has seen rapid change. To accommodate this, the structure and direction of ThinkTV has also shifted.

"ThinkTV will continue to champion the benefits of Total TV, and the board will share more details of how the organisation will do this in due course."
