AdNews last year launched the WFH Diaries during the depths of the fallout from the pandemic, a way of sharing how people managed their days.
This time, with lockdown running again, we're asking for a run down on how everyone likes to start their day working from home. Some dress to impress, others slip on the t-shirt. And everyone has their own way to carve the day into manageable chunks.
Gai Le Roy, CEO of IAB Australia:
Treats, tea, team and a morning constitutional all play a major factor in in helping me retain motivation, focus and sanity during lockdown. While we are WFH I manage to get out early for a long walk with my dog Clover. Normally each morning I would listen to a news and an industry podcast, but I am finding that now I need something lighter and more creative to start the day as the rest of the day is a bit more static than usual. So, I am powering through audiobooks both fiction and arts related biographies.
Back at home I make sure I have porridge each morning (it was my grandad’s secret to a long and healthy life – he lived to 98 so it can’t hurt). Clover hovers at my feet while I am preparing porridge in the hope that one day I might just drop a t-bone steak on the floor by mistake. After porridge throughout the day tea is my constant companion starting with strong Irish breakfast in the morning then moving on to a mix of different Mood teas in the afternoon.
We catch up as a team most mornings at 9am to help set the scene for the day and for me this is the most important meeting of the day. We chat about how everyone is feeling, have regular visits from team member’s kids (who almost feel like part of the team now) and go through the work plan for the day.
Then we are off to support our member companies and create great initiatives for the industry.
