The Stig heads to Stan as part of BBC Worldwide deal

The content-offering game continues to play out with StreamCo's streaming video on demand platform, Stan, adding BBC Worldwide content onto the platform.

Series such as Sherlock, Ripper Street, Orphan Black, Top Gear, and Doctor Who will be shown on the platform, with back-to-back episodes and complete seasons available to Stan subscribers within the monthly price.

The deal will be multi-year, with Stan tying up the exclusive SVOD rights on the shows as part of the agreement.

It has previously announced content deals with SBS, MGM Studios, and AMC to show Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul.

The line-up will also include British comedies alongside documentaries from Louis Theroux and David Attenborough and children's show Charlie and Lola.

The titles will be available to watch instantly in full HD on multiple platforms, including television, tablets, and mobile phones.

The launch date of Stan has yet to be tied down, although there is speculation the platform could be launched in time for Christmas.

Stan is one of the SVOD platforms currently positioning in the market, with incumbents Fetch and Quickflix the incumbents, and Foxtel-backed Presto believed to be in the process of tying up TV content.

All of the platforms are positioning ahead of US behemoth Netflix coming into the market in March.
