Independent agency The Hallway has created a sneaky campaign to find new staff, using rolls to fill roles.
It's getting easier to find agency talent but it's still a tight market.
The Hallway's headquarters are on arguably Australia's most densely populated street of advertising agencies, Harris St in Pyrmont, Sydney.
Agencies and agency groups including OMD, Enero, Publicis and TBWA are close by to The Hallway.
The Hallway’s neighbour, Banh-mi Co, is one of the industry's favourite lunch spots and a local institution.
The law of averages says that a bunch of their daily ad agency customers aren't happy in their current role and would be open to a new one.
Founder Jules Hall says the agency had a number of roles to fill off the back of recent growth.
"The Banh-mi shop is two doors down from the agency and we could see all these adlanders going there for lunch," he says.
"We know the owners so I went and had a chat, explained what we were thinking and asked if we could run a trial. They loved it and gave us a go. As the saying goes, if you don't ask, you don’t get!
"The hardest roles to fill currently are mid-level roles."
The Hallway thought it would be worth speaking directly to those people to see if they want another role with their roll.
Scanning a QR code on the Banh-mi sandwich bag takes the lunching talent to a dedicated microsite where they can learn more about The Hallway and its current open roles.
The Hallway won the AdNews Agency of the Year Social Responsibility/Pro Bono Award for Gotcha4Life, Boys Do Cry.
