The Block beats The Bachelor in reality face-off

The Block Glasshouse led the way for the reality TV shows last night, while The Bachelor Australia dipped on its Wednesday night launch.

An audience of 781,000 across Australia's five metro areas tuned in to Nine's The Block Glasshouse, making it the seventh most-watched free-to-air program.

It went head-to-head with The Bachelor, on Ten, which won an audience of 594,000 (it won 692,000 for its premiere on Wednesday), putting it in 11th position.

It was the Seven Network's night overall, winning 29.5% of the total audience share, followed by Nine with 24.8% and Ten with 24%.

But Nine won the most-watched show, with Nine News winning 1.122 million viewers, according to preliminary overnight ratings figures from OzTam.

Nine News at 6.30 was the second most-watched program, with an audience of 1.026 million.

Nine's Hot Seat also made the top 10, with 650,000 viewers putting it in ninth spot.

Completing the top 10 was Seven News, in third spot with an audience of 1.010 million, Seven's Today Tonight, fourth with 954,000, Nine's A Current Affair, fifth with 908,000, Seven's Home and Away, sixth with 813,000, ABC News, eighth with 731,000 and Ten Eyewitness News, 10th with 606,000.
