The Aunties, a mentoring and support program for the advertising industry, is expanding north from melbourne.
Co-founders Phoebe Sloane and Sarah McGregor, on stage at This Way Up: Australia’s advertising festival of creativity 2022, confirmed the program is coming to Sydney.
The Aunties, launched in October 2021, is a mentoring and support program for women of all ages, stages of careers and backgrounds across creative industries.
“We have big plans to come,” co-founder Phoebe Sloane said.
But Sloane alluded to lack of resources as their biggest hurdle, slowing down their attempts to expand.
“When we remember that we are a group of volunteers who all hold down pretty demanding day jobs - we [and our big plans] need to be reined in a little.”
“Almost every day, we are asked when will we be launching in Sydney, but also internationally.
"We've received emails from London, New York, even as far away as Belgium and Ecuador.
“And our response is always the same - please be patient.
“One thing we are hyper aware of is we really want to get this right.
“These are not small issues that we're dealing with, and already through this pilot, we’ve learnt so much, and we're really starting to work and refine our model.
“The Aunties will scale, we promise, and we promise you [Sydney] are next."
