The AdNews Agency of the Year Award (sponsored by Samsung Ads) has been handed to independent agency Howatson+Company.
“I am just a little bit overwhelmed and feel slightly sick,” founder Chris Howatson said when accepting the award at the long lunch event at the SCG's Noble Dining Room.
“I don't think a day like this would ever happen again.
“So I just want to say thank you so much to all of the judges. This means an enormous amount. I can't wait to go back and share it with the agency.
“Thank you very, very much for this great honour. We're hugely excited and grateful.”
The agency secured a string of titles at the awards ceremony:
- Creative Agency of the Year (sponsored by TripleLift);
- Independent Agency of the Year (sponsored by nexxen);
- Social Media Campaign of the Year;
- Best use of AI;
- Employer of the Year headcount over 75 (sponsored by Samsung Ads);
- The AdNews Effectiveness Award (sponsored by Google).
The awards were judged by CMOs and marketers across Australia and New Zealand.
“Howatson+Company has set a cracking pace in the increasingly competitive independent agency landscape this year, scaling operations, acquiring new clients and executing exceptional campaigns,” the judges noted.
“This is a young agency started in 2021 whose quality of work continues.
“And it has a commitment to remain small, not to over expand, to be what it terms ‘intimate’ at 200 staff.”
The agency’s work I’m Dying Inside: A modern period drama for Modibodi, set the benchmark for how brands should show up on TikTok.
“The Modibodi campaign was a highlight case study in the category, showing that the agency clearly understands how to address client problems for key audiences,” the judges said.
