Last night's debut of Ten reality show Australia Survivor saw the show off to a good start, winning the primetime slot and improving on last year's premiere.
The latest season, which sees 12 champions in their field pitted against 12 contestants, drew in 716,000 viewers overnight, an improvement on season two's premiere of 639,000.
Survivor was also the favourite across all key demographics and drew 924,000 viewers nationally, with a peak audience of 1.14 million.
Fitness guru Steve Willis, better known on television as the Commando, joins the castaways on Survivor alongside a host of champions.
Willis is joined by champion football stars Brian Lake, Damien Thomlinson, Moana Hope and Mat Rogers, former Olympic champion Shane Gould and astrophysicist Samuel Hilton.
This year’s series has also seen Holden return as a major sponsor and attracted new partners BGF, Kellogg and Parmalat.
Holden’s sponsorship extends across broadcast, Tenplay and the official Survivor social channels. It includes a Network Ten produced TV ad for Holden, fronted by series one favourites Lee Carseldine and El Rowland.
Seven won the night, taking out the top spot with a 19.4% main channel share, led by its nightly news and the first two episodes of Highway Patrol, which drew 582,000 and 657,000 viewers respectively.
Nine came second, with a 17.8% main channel share, followed by Ten with 14.3%.
