TBWA\Melbourne and Adelaide have opened its 2023 fresh fries apprenticeship program, an entry-level full-time paid internship.
Now in its fifth year, fresh fries sees successful applicants work across each of the agency’s departments over the course of one year. The initiative is open to anyone with a passion for creativity who’s interested in getting a foot in the door of these creative agencies.
TBWA\Melbourne managing director Ricci Meldrum said: “It’s that time of year again – we’re calling on applicants from all walks of life, regardless of experience or prior education.
"During the 12-month rotation, our fresh fries will be placed across all practice areas, gaining invaluable experience.
“The program offers an excellent introduction and foundational grounding for those new to our industry. Since its inception, eight fresh fries have been placed into permanent positions across various departments within the agency, including creative, planning, and project and business management.”
The success in Melbourne has seen the program expand to the Adelaide office, with at least one placement up for grabs in 2023.
TBWA\Adelaide managing director Joe Godsell said: “Bringing fresh fries to Adelaide is a first for us. It’s been tried and tested in other markets and we’re looking forward to offering it to the great range of up-and-coming talent in South Australia.
"I urge anyone to apply, regardless of age, education or ability – creativity can come from anywhere."
Up to three fresh fries will work with the agency’s business management, project management, production, planning, and creative teams – as well as within sister agency Eleven PR for an all-round induction to the worlds of marketing and communications.
TBWA\Melbourne 2022 fresh fry Pip Dolman is currently in the final months of her rotation and said it was an invaluable opportunity for exposure and learning.
“Starting a new role is the most nerve-wracking experience – and one I’ve had the pleasure of doing six times this year. I say ‘pleasure’ as each rotation has filled me with confidence and cemented that I’m in the right industry. It’s wonderful to have a support network of people who want me to succeed,” said Dolman.
Candidates are asked to express their interest through an application via Facebook Messenger, prompted with four unique questions and tasks.
To test the creativity of the candidates, the questions are designed for real-time response, to resonate with applicants regardless of their past levels of experience.
Applications close Friday 18 November 2022 and will commence on Monday 23 January 2023.
