Westfarmer-owned department store Target has carved up its media account between Omnicom's OMD and IPG's UM, AdNews can confirm.
Prior OMD had held the entire media planning and buying account, after winning in a pitch in 2016. AdNews understands that UM held the account before that.
Previous reports indicated that UM won the account after a pitch. While this is true, the IPG media agency holds a significantly smaller proportion of the account.
UM holds $9.1M (AUD) while OMD holds $24.9M (AUD).
Ogilvy Melbourne is understood to recently won Target's creative account after a pitch.
Prior AJF Partnership, which has recently been absorbed into sister agency Khemistry, was the brands creative agency.
AJF released Target’s first brand campaign, called ‘Life Tested’, after seven years in 2022.
Last year the duo created a Christmas campaign, ‘Target All The Way’ in October 2023.
OMD declined to comment. Target did not respond at the time of publishing.
