Stan has officially launched in Australia – to those who signed up for pre-release updates anyhow.

The subscription video on demand service sent out an email today to a limited number of user addresses which had registered with the service, telling customers that they could access the service.

Details are scant at this point in time, but according to reports on social media, users are able to access a large proportion of Stan's library, including its back catalogue of James Bond films, series of Breaking Bad, and the BBC series Sherlock, among others.

Some have reported that there is no support on Google Chrome for Macs, and slow loading times on Safari. Others have reported difficulty in signing up as its payment service is down.

Stan has so far kept mum on when it would officially launch, but given the app is now available for download and people who have registered are reporting they are watching series it would seem that the launch is now.

StreamCo told AdNews that the trial is only available to people on its pre-registration database, and the content available is "representative of some of the best content you'll see on the platform", with new content to be added.

The launch date for the full version is yet to be confirmed.
