Sputnik bags Schweppes account

Schweppes Australia has appointed Sputnik Melbourne to handle its digital account across a number of brands.

The agency will work on Schweppes Classic Mixers, Schweppes Mineral Waters, Schweppes Lemonade and the Schweppes Agrum Collection. The appointment was made following a competitive pitch.

The review did not include creative, which is handled by George Patterson Y&R Melbourne.

Schweppes Australia marketing director Darryn Wallace told AdNews: "After reviewing four agencies and selecting Sputnik to fully brief we felt that the it was right agnecy moving forward."

Wallace ruled out a further review of the Schweppes Australia brands. BMF holds the creative for Solo and Cool Ridge and George Patterson Y&R works on Spring Valley and Cottee's in addition to Schweppes.

Schweppes had a main media spend of $6.5 million in the 12 months to November 2010, down from $8.4 million in the prior period, according to Nielsen.

Schweppes' media account is held by Carat, which was not part of the pitch.
