Independent creative company Special Group Australia has welcomed creative duo Matt Bladin and Phoebe Sloane to its Melbourne office.

Sloane and Bladin join the agency following a two-and-a-half-year stint at CHE Proximity Melbourne, where they worked on brands including Mazda, Flybuys, AGL, Telstra, RACV and Latitude Financial.

After finishing first place in AWARD School, Sloane held positions at Wunderman Thompson, Ogilvy and CHE Proximity.

“There’s an incredible energy and warm culture at Special Group and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to become part of that and join something with immense creative opportunity," Sloane says.

"We’re going to learn so much working with creative legends such as Tom, Jules, Luke and Toby and we couldn’t be more excited.”

Bladin, who also finished in the top 10 at AWARD School, is the national chair of Youngbloods and played a pivotal role, alongside Sloane, in launching ongoing resources for the industry such as Asking For a Friend, The Trenches Regional Mentorship Program.

“We’re so excited to join Special Group at a time of incredible growth for the company," Bladin says.

"The hunger in Melbourne to make great work is only matched by how warm and kind everyone is. We can’t wait to start getting into it.”

Special Group Australia was recently crowned Independent Agency of the Year at the AdNews Agency of the Year Awards and several other accolades at the event for its work.

"Matt and Phoebe bring both talent and incredible ambition to the business and we can’t wait to see the brilliance they will add to our clients, work and culture," Special Group Australia creative director Luke Thompson says.

"They’re the perfect creative team to help us grow our rapidly expanding Melbourne offering.”

Special Group’s clients include Uber Eats, CUB, Tourism New Zealand, Harris Farm, Red Bull, Bonds and Yalumba.
