Publicis Groupe’s Spark Foundry has won the Meta (Facebook) global media account.

The social media platform put its account, worth close to $A1 billion a year, up for review in March.

Industry insiders confirmed that Spark Foundry in Australia will be working on the account.

The pitch included incumbents WPP and Dentsu, plus Publicis and Havas.

However, WPP's media agency GroupM, which handled Meta’s media business for seven years, withdrew in July

The reason for the withdrawal isn't known. One report suggested Facebook may be asking for new contractual terms around liability in the ad buying process.

Adweek reported Meta  as saying: “We are pleased to announce that Spark Foundry will be our new global media planning and buying partner across Meta’s brand portfolio. Spark Foundry will be responsible for strategic thought leadership, media innovation, planning and investment, cross-channel approaches, tools, tech and operations.”
