Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has appointed Nick Unger as head of TV sales - Sydney, following an extensive search for candidates.

Unger began his career as a coordinator with SCA.

He is currently group business manager at Nine, where he led the broadcast sales trading team.

In his role, Unger will be responsible for providing strategic direction to the Sydney TV sales teams, as well as supporting national sales opportunities.

He has expertise as a leader in sales planning and strategy, group business planning and developing sponsorships and promotions.

“SCA is known in the market for having the best sales people in the industry. Being a resident of Boomtown myself, I’ve witnessed firsthand the potential for growth in regional Australia," Unger says.

"I look forward to building on the great success of the TV sales team and the ongoing potential of the vibrant regional market.”

SCA chief sales officer Brian Gallagher says Unger fit the profile as someone who was both "dynamic and strategic" to lead SCA's TV sales team.

“A key focus for Nick will be building and managing these teams, and an ability to work collaboratively across the board,” Gallagher said.

“I’m thrilled that we have managed to lure Nick back to the SCA family. He has leveraged his intense enthusiasm and passion for TV and media into a career. He lives in the NBN market and will be a strong cultural fit and inspirational leader for the Sydney team.

“Nick’s is well-known for his ability to develop innovative cross-platform solutions and maximise revenue and market share. I’m sure he will be an outstanding head of TV sales for our Sydney team and help lead and nurture the best talent into the future.”
