shEqual's second part of gender equality-focused event series happening in October

shEqual, the gender equality in advertising initiative by Women's Health Victoria, has announced the sequel to the event series, 'Leading Change: From Culture to Content'.

This instalment, titled 'The Business Imperative of Progressive Advertising Portrayals', promises to be an enlightening exploration of the power of inclusive and realistic advertising for all industry leaders, CEOs and changemakers.  

Building upon the first event, "Igniting Change in the Workplace," which drew the participation of over 50 industry leaders, shEqual is welcoming back marketing and brand strategist, Angie Bradbury. She will facilitate candid and insightful discussions featuring prominent voices from advertising and creative agencies.

This time, the focus shifts to the business case for embracing more gender-progressive, inclusive, and authentic advertising narratives. 

This event will host industry leaders and award-winning agencies, who achieve success for their clients through progressive advertisingThe guest panel includes Dhivia Pillai, senior strategist at Leo Burnett; Rebecca Robertson, managing partner at Howatson+Company; and Ricci Meldrum, MD and Matt Stoddart, ECD at TBWA\Melbourne.

Bradbury said following the success of shEqual's first Leading Change event, she's excited to return for its second instalment

"So far, this series has offered a rare platform for senior leaders to connect, engage, and gain insights from fellow industry leaders who share a commitment to fostering a more diverse and inclusive industry," she said.

"As we shift our focus to the creatives in the industry, I eagerlyanticipate numerous candid conversations."

Pilliai said effective creative both resonates and inspires.

"Put plainly, we stunt creative and commercial potential if we fail to account for the spectrum of Australians we're speaking to," she said.

"I’m proud to play a part in progressing equality in our industry, and making a business case for it in a period rife with token nods to inclusion. It's time to see it as an imperative, not a box-ticking exercise." 

This event will take place on Thursday October 26 2023 at MicDrop Creative Cubes in Melbourne. The event is free, but spaces are limited, so interested individuals should secure their attendance by RSVPing.
