Seven West Media has gone into a trading halt on the ASX.

The company called the halt pending an announcement: "Trading in the securities of the entity will be temporarily paused pending a further announcement."

No further explanation was given.

Its shares last traded at $0.065, giving it a market capitalisation of about $100 million compared to last reported net debt of $569.5 million.

The company last month withdrew its earnings guidance over the escalating "uncertainty" relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the latest half year, Seven West Media posted a statutory net loss of $66.35 million in a "challenging" advertising market.
