Seven Network has commissioned a season of the US adventure series Ultimate Tag for its 2021 line-up.
The show, which will be developed by Endemol Shine Australia, searches for Australia’s ultimate tagger through a series of competitions. The move is part of Seven’s shift away from in-house productions for an increased reliance on external production partners.
“This is part of our tent pole strategy that delivers epic entertainment to all audiences,” says Angus Ross, Seven’s network programming director.
“We’re excited to be partnering with Endemol Shine Australia to bring Ultimate Tag, a dynamic new format, to Australia next year.
“Endemol Shine are the masters of supercharging shows to massive success in Australia, and with Ultimate Tag we know they will deliver a great show that our viewers will love, just as they have done with Big Brother this year.”
Ultimate Tag was originally created in the US by event entertainment specialists Znak & Co. The show’s launch on Fox marked the broadcaster’s highest-rated and most-watched unscripted summer debut in eight years and broadcast’s highest-rated unscripted summer debut in three years.
Edemol Shine Australia are currently casting for next year’s season with more details to be announced at Seven’s 2021 Upfronts later this year.
