Seven West Media has been hit a wave of redundancies, with up to 150 people going, according to insiders.
The job cuts are not limited to any one division, but include part of the marketing team.
"Journalists from the television and print divisions, sales and marketing staff, as well as some printing staff [are] to be cut," according to an article in the Sydney Morning Herald,.
Seven declined to comment to AdNews.
The redundancies follow similar moves at News Corp, beginning just under a month ago.
News Corp began a restructure to position the local arm of the global media group in a world where way news is consumed is changing fast. The round of redundancies first claimed Lisa Muxworthy, editor-in-chief of news.com.au, before moving on to long-serving senior staff such as Michael Desiere, Michael Wilkins and Marcus Hooke.
The Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance wrote directly to News Corp Australia executive chairman Michael Miller last week, asking for greater transparency on the company’s restructure and staff affected after additional reports that up to 80 of the media company's sales roles are going.
The SMI (Standard Media Index) numbers for April show reduced demand across major media, with the decline for TV reaching-10.4%, compared to radio at -5.7%, outdoor at -1.5% and digital at -2.4%.
