US-based martech giant Salesforce is expanding in Australia, building a Salesforce Tower in Sydney and adding 1,000 new jobs over the next five years.

"Salesforce has a proud history in Australia, having been here for over 15 years," says Salesforce Australia and New Zealand CEO Pip Marlow.

"Salesforce Tower Sydney is taking that commitment to a new level and will allow us to have an even greater impact on our people, our customers, and most importantly our community."

Salesforce Tower Sydney will rise 53 storeys above the city, sitting in the heart of the central business district with views across to Sydney Harbour, the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

The building will be the tallest in the city and the second tallest in Australia as well as one of the country’s most sustainable buildings.

Salesforce employees will start moving into Salesforce Tower Sydney in late 2022.

Plans for the building include a top Ohana Floor – an open hospitality space for Salesforce employees, customers and partners, which will also be available for non-profits and local education groups on weeknights and weekends at no cost.

Salesforce Tower Sydney is one of ten Towers the company has announced in key markets including its headquarters in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, London, Tokyo, Dublin, Indianapolis and Atlanta.

Pip Marlow was appointed earlier this year as the company's first CEO in the region.
