Saatchi & Saatchi has picked up the creative account for bookmaker Ladbrokes following a competitive pitch.

AdNews understands that Saatchi beat a number of other agencies on the shortlist for the pitch, thought to include M&C Saatchi, Leo Burnett and GPY&R.

Ladbrokes launched in Australia in 2013, after the UK wagering giant acquired local brand Gaming Investment in September of that year.

It has become known in the local market for the use of a cockney accented voice-over for its ads.

In March of this year, Ladbrokes named former Australia College chief marketing officer Simon Jarvis as its new CMO, following the departure of James Burnett after three years in the role.

Ladbrokes CEO Dean Shannon says Saatchi & Saatchi will help the brand “continue to change the game” by being first to market with new innovations and products.

Saatchi & Saatch Australia CEO Michael Rebelo says it looks forward to helping Ladbrokes continue its “ambitious vision”.

“The online betting category is highly competitive, high growth and full of creative opportunity,” Rebelo says.

“We're looking forward to the challenge in partnership with Ladbrokes.”
