Michel de Rijk, chief executive, APAC, at Martin Sorrell's pure-play digital advertising group S4 Capital Group / Media.Monks has resigned.

"I did run my internal battery empty, it impacted my personality, who I am and what I stand for, it impacted my family and joy in life," he said. "That’s the reason why I resigned."

He is close to Sir Martin, having followed him from WPP when he left to found S4.

de Rijk said that during his term a new company was  launched and 33 acquisitions followed globally.

"Grew the business 700+%, expanded across the region etc etc. but mainly…. brought a team together that was able to become one and care about each other and the goals we were trying to achieve.

"But all of that came at a cost.

"I will take some time off to spend with family, travel, read and explore before I think about my next step in the workspace. With all the exciting developments in our industry and outside, i'm sure something will come on my path."
