British singer-songwriter Rod Stewart will be joining the SmoothFM line-up, fronting his own one-hour show on the radio station.
As part of SmoothFM's 'all-star weekend line-up' Stewart will present a series of radio shows from February 1 at 4pm Sundays available on both Smooth's Sydney and Melbourne stations and nationally on DAB+.
“You've heard my singing voice many times on SmoothFM, so I thought it was time I grabbed the mic so we could have a chat,” Stewart said. “I'm looking forward to hearing your smooth favourites and playing you some of mine.”
Stewart will be in Australia ahead of his tour in March and April. Previous artists that have presented shows on SmoothFM include Ronan Keating, Michael Buble, Seal, Olivia Newton-John, James Blunt and Keith Urban.
Nova Entertainment's group program director, Paul Jackson, said the network was excited for Stewart to take up the microphone.
“Rod Stewart is one of the greatest and most enduring artists of all time,” Jackson said. “He has created so many magical songs that our listeners associate with memorable moments in their lives.”
