Twitter has confirmed that it has handed its creative account to digital agency R/GA, following a competitive pitch.
It comes just days after the news that independent media agency Bohemia had won the account for its media work.
It marks the first time Twitter has locally appointed media and creative agencies. AdNews understands the appointments are part of a consumer marketing push by the social media behemoth.
R/GA VP managing director Jon Holloway told AdNews: “We're so excited to be working with Twitter in this first phase of taking them to market.”
US-founded R/GA, which is owned by one of the “big four” global advertising holding companies, The Interpublic Group of Companies, has offices across eight countries. Its New York office scooped Agency of the Year at Cannes, and globally works with clients such as Nike, Mastercard and Johnson and Johnson.
Both pitches were unveiled by AdNews in April, along with news this month that Twitter was looking for a head of consumer marketing, with the role to report into the global consumer marketing team in San Francisco.
Twitter made a similar push in the UK in April this year, appointing Lucky Generals as its first UK retained creative agency and PHD on media.
Twitter declined to comment.
