Publisher-focused sell-side platform PubMatic plans to grow its global headcount by more than 20% in 2019, according to figures provided by the company.
As part of the global boost, current ANZ country manager Peter Barry has been promoted to a regional director role, while Adrian Lee has been hired as associate director, platform solutions, formerly a senior manager with MediaMath.
Where other ad tech companies are facing market consolidation and layoffs, PubMatic has revealed it is experiencing "significant growth" in key areas - particularly mobile app and video monetization.
In 2018, PubMatic’s mobile business growth was driven by in-app video, which increased by more than 200% year-over-year based on platform spend. Additionally, the company’s direct publisher partnerships more than doubled year-over-year in 2018..
"We are delighted to announce that we are investing in our business and people in 2019 across the globe. For ANZ, we have just appointed a new Solutions Engineer, and are close to filling an Ad Solutions role," Barry said.
"These positions, along with our already experienced team in market, mean our publisher and demand partners can expect even better service and support.
"In an industry that is, for the most part, pulling back on investment, we are proud that our focus on video and app monetisation, in particular, has allowed us to further grow our business."
Despite many ad tech leaders claiming 2018 was a quiet year for the industry, with some adding that it was unlikely many would look to "stick their heads out", Pubmatic is looking to buck the trend of decline as it touts strong global growth.
