Media agencies at Publicis Groupe have been growing faster in Australia than any other global holding group network.

The Media Agency Billings and Market Share report for 2023, just released by COMvergence, shows OMG Australia at the top of the league table with $US1.428 billion in billings.

However, Publicis takes the gong for yearly growth at 21% following significant account wins last year.

This compares to just 0.6% for the league table leader, OMG, and -0.1 % for second placegetter GroupM.

Publicis, the France-based global agency, has been leading its rivals in growth terms. The company reported stronger than expected net revenue organic growth, with the June quarter lifting 5.6%

However, its Australia and New Zealand business has been tracking below the global growth numbers, reporting a "broadly flat" June quarter and up 2.4% on an organic basis in the six months to June.

The media business stands out, according to analysis of billings by COMvergence.

In Australia, Publicis ranked third in terms of billings at $US805 million but its individual media agencies did well in terms of growth, winning major accounts during the year.

Zenith picked up Modibodi, Superloop, Adobe and Temple & Webster.  Spark Foundry grabbed Cancer Council and Starcom TPG Telecom.

Zenith grew billings by a third to $US293 million and Spark Foundry by almost a quarter to $291 million.

Where Publicis trails is market share at 17%, just ahead of Mediabrands at 16%. OMG has 30% and GroupM 29%.

Mediabrands growth was -1.5%.
