SpongeBob SquarePants will now be on multiple streaming video on demand (SVOD) services in Australia, after Presto added a suite of children's content onto its platform.
The SVOD joint venture between Foxtel and Seven West Media has added a collection of children's content including shows from providers including Viacom International, Saban, DHX Media, and Hasbro Studios onto its platforms.
This includes shows such as Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Transformers Prime, and My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.
Director of Presto Sean James said having the service show kids programming on a variety of devices would be a godsend for parents.
“Our selection of kids programming has something for even the most discerning young viewer and parents will appreciate being able to offer them these hit children’s shows to stream on demand and on a multitude of different devices,” James said.
Viacom International content, including SpongeBob SquarePants, will also be available on rival SVOD player Stan when it launches this year.
Together with Stan and Presto, US giant Netflix is targeting a launch of a dedicated Australian service with all three to come up against incumbent services.
Presto said that it would be releasing details of other programming to be added to the platform over the coming weeks.
The service has been a joint venture between Foxtel and Seven West since the start of December. While the service is currently movies-only the plan is to expand the offering to serve up TV content as part of an 'entertainment' bundle.
Users will be able to purchase a subscription to either movies or entertainment, or buy them together.
