Triton Digital’s Podcast Ranker for March 2023 has been released, with Hamish & Andy rising seven spots from last month to take the top spot in both the Top 100 Ranker and Top 100 All-Australian Ranker.
After seven consecutive months in first place last year, the comedy duo were displaced by Casefile True Crime in October 2022, regained the top spot in November and then were relegated to second place again in December.
The results for March show Hamish & Andy racked up 954,669 monthy listeners and over two million monthly downloads, good enough to fend off Casefile True Crime in second place, which totalled 929,935 monthly listeners to go along with over 2.4 million monthy downloads.
The Kyle & Jackie O Show had a brief run at the top spot in February, but fell two places to third in March with 775,469 monthly listeners. Mamamia Out Loud was in fourth with 646,387 monthly listeners and Shameless finished at fifth with 625,756 monthly listeners.
ARN/iHeartMedia's The Imperfects secured a spot in the top 10, rising six spots from last month to sixth in the March Podcast Ranker with 525,062 monthly listeners. Bloke In A Bar had a strong debut, premiering at number 10 with 347,425 monthly listeners.
ARN/iHeartMedia, LiSTNR (SCA) and SiriusXM Podcast Network remained at first, second and third in the Top Publishers rankings. ARN/iHeartMedia led the pack with over 24 million monthly downloads, over double the amount of the next nearest publisher.
ARN’s head of digital audio, Corey Layton, said to hold half of the nation’s top 10 podcasts is an incredible credit to the shows that continue to capture Australian ears and brands each and every month.
"It’s also incredible to see the extraordinary growth of Australian podcast listening with downloads hitting a record 90.5 million in March, significantly up on the previous record of 80.5 million in February, showcasing the industry growing at pace," said Layton.
The Ranker provides insight into the Top 100 Podcasts as well as the Top 10 Publishers in Australia from 1 March through 28 March 2023, as measured by Triton’s Podcast Metrics measurement service.
