Podcast Ranker: Hamish & Andy continue dominating

Triton Digital's Podcast Ranker for October 2024 has been released, with Hamish & Andy retaining the spot in both the Top 100 Ranker and Top 100 All-Australian Ranker.

The comedy duo tallied 934,394 monthly listeners and over 1.85 million monthly downloads.

Casefile True Crime remained in second with 771,026 monthly listeners, as the ABC'S ABC News Top Stories finished slightly behind in third once again with 747,728 monthly listeners.

Shameless and Mamamia Out Loud swapped spots from September's ranker, with the former coming in at fourth with  was at fourth with 593,270 monthly listeners and the latter dropping to fifth with 564,874 monthly listeners - both figures were up from the month prior.

ARN/iHeartMedia, LiSTNR (SCA) and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) remained at first, second and third in the Top Publishers rankings. ARN/iHeartMedia led the way in monthly listeners with 4,565,128 to go along with over 14.4 million monthly downloads, while the ABC totalled 21,955,664 monthly downloads, the highest for October.

SCA's executive head of LiSTNR audience and growth, Grant Tothill, said as Australia’s number 1 podcast sales representation network, LiSTNR continues to deliver audience growth, which in turn is driving the overall growth of the Australian podcast marketplace.

“To see growth across both our owned and operated titles, together with global titles through our international partners such as SiriusXM and Wondery, supports our ongoing focus in building Australia’s strongest podcast network in both audience reach and monetisation.”

ARN’s head of digital audio, Corey Layton, said iHeart’s success on the Australian Podcast Ranker highlights the powerful connections the company's audio content creates for both brands and listeners alike.

"Our slate of incredible shows and the communities they engage, provides brands with everything they need to access to Australia’s fastest growing mass medium," he said.

Triton Digital is also introducing a new ranker capability that will rank the podcast category by monthly listener and integrate Triton Demos+ data.

The Demos+ data will include 10 audience characteristics, such as: Adults 18-24, Adults 24-39, Adults 25-54, Female 25-54, Male 25-54, Parent with child (<18), Podcasts < weekly, Radio streamed- past month, YouTube- past week, and TV catch-up- past week; as well as the index versus the monthly podcast 18+ population against each of the characteristics. 

The data will serve to further help inform buying decisions.
