AdNews wraps up the biggest pitch news and wins from the last three weeks.

Westpac creative pitch shortlist

Howatson+Co, DDB, Accenture and Publicis Groupe have been shortlisted for big four bank's Westpac creative pitch, according to industry insiders.

Incumbent DDB Sydney has held the account since 2012. 

This pitch coincides with competitor bank ANZ which is also reviewing its creative account. 

WPP and Omnicom win Amazon

WPP and Omnicom have won the Amazon media pitch, said to be the world’s biggest.

The giant online retailer in 2022 spent $US20.6 billion in advertising and other promotional costs, up from $16.9 billion the year before, according to financial statements lodged by Amazon.

Omnicom Media Group will run the US and WPP Europe and APAC.

IPG Mediabrands, which won the account in 2013 and kept it in the 2017 pitch, still has Amazon Web Services, Amazon Ads and Amazon Business.

eBay moves global media account to iProspect

Ecommerce website eBay has appointed dentsu’s iProspect as its global media agency following a competitive review.

The shortlist reportedly included incumbent Essencemediacom, which has held the account since 2014, and Havas Media Network.

The Australian teams had significant influence in the pitch, insiders tell AdNews.

Origin Energy adds Special to agency roster

Energy company Origin Energy has added independent agency Special to its creative agency roster, AdNews can confirm.

Origin has been working on an agency roster basis for some time which will continue to include M&C Saatchi, Houston Group, alt/shift/ and others.

Special was added to this roster about a month ago.

DDB Melbourne wins ACCIONA Energía

DDB Melbourne has been appointed lead creative agency to sustainable solutions company ACCIONA Energía Australia.

Agencies were not involved in a traditional pitch, with ACCIONA Energía instead consulting with agencies to design a process that reflects their ideal way of working.

After consultation, the pitch process included a brief Q&A on the brand's needs as well as a short collaborative working session where agencies showcased thinking and collaborative approaches in real-time.

Atomic 212° wins BlueScope

Independent media agency Atomic 212° has been appointed to the BlueScope Australia media account.

Atomic 212° will oversee the strategy, media planning and buying across all media channels and social community management for the metal coating and painting products company.

Scooter wins Bupa pitch

Scooter, a Melbourne based integrated brand agency, has been appointed to the Bupa agency village following a  competitive pitch.

The win sees Scooter become a key agency partner for Bupa across all its Australian businesses, including health insurance, dental, optical, hearing, and aged care.

Dig wins a2 Milk social media and content

a2 Milk has appointed independent creative agency Dig as its social media & content agency following a competitive pitch.

Bench Media joins agency village for Hays

Global recruitment company Hays Recruitment has appointed Bench Media as one of its digital media agencies of record, responsible for launching B2C and B2B campaigns.

Bench Media’s remit covers media planning, buying and strategy across digital channels, including social media, dynamic display retargeting, and DOOH advertising.

Half Dome wins transport and logistics insurance provider NTI 

Independent media agency Half Dome has been appointment to handle performance media and SEO for specialist insurance provider NTI.

Half Dome will be responsible for managing all performance media, SEO and strategy, plus CRO and data analytics in partnership with tech agency Digital Immersion. 

TBWA\Melbourne wins VicReturn pitch

Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme coordinator, VicReturn, has appointed TBWA\Melbourne – The Disruption Company as its integrated full-service agency following a competitive pitch.

TBWA\Melbourne will spearhead key strategic and creative output under the new partnership, while co-located United (part of Omnicom Media Group) will drive media strategy and buying.

Orange Line wins partnership with Fantastic Furniture

Independent digital marketing agency Orange Line has been appointed Fantastic Furniture's digital media and analytics agency.

This collaboration marks a significant win for the agency as it expands its retail client base.
