While some have cut back for end of year events, others in the industry lived it up to celebrate 2022 and get excited for 2023 ...

M&C Saatchi

Brought to life its brand 'Hello Fearless' by celebrating the bold, brave and daring among us. Staff came dressed as fearless creatures and were joined by drag queens, fire breathing bar tenders and an accordion player who may or may not have been invited.

Magic

Upon entering an evac-vehicle to an unknown destination, staff was presented with a mission briefing document to be completed at Chadstone Shopping Centre. Their mission, should they choose to accept it, was to combat the fight against capitalism, by spending the entirety of their allocated and personalised credit card in 55 minutes. The cards would terminate at 11:01am, rendering the cards useless, and if not spent, a failed mission. It's safe to say that the 20-30 of the Magic team ran for Chadstone, causing carnage and some pretty funny retailer reactions.

This was our thanks for an incredible year of growth - but also, in light of many businesses cutting Christmas parties for the purpose of profit, we wanted to invert that. Magic is nothing without our people, and we wanted to show it. Following this, and upon a reveal of some interesting presents, we wrapped up our day at Stokehouse sharing stories, laughs, and a cocktail or three as one, big, growing, family - only made it to the end.

Celebrated by combining Christmas with its 20th-anniversary bash. The event included a moving history room activation, a beautiful Welcome to Country from Djirri Drirri women's dance group, emotional speeches from founders Jo Painter and Chris Dodds as well as dancing from the entire team at the agency's own production studio The Content Garden.

For the second year the team celebrated at the AO retreat at Jervis Bay across 2 days, 1 night. The agency planned for the year ahead, kayaked, walked through the national park and embodied its company values through an interpretive group dance (not joking!).

oOh!media in Sydney

With a team of more than 800 across Australia, oOh!media's festive fun included the announcement of its employee awards. Each office partied the night away, hosting their own celebrations with teams encouraged to dress to their own theme. The content, marketing and creative team didn't stretch too far from their daily dress code, paying homage to the Men in Black.

The Marketing Room in WA

As is the tradition, its team enjoyed plenty of sun, relaxation, laughs and a few refreshments to reflect on another big year spent by the pool at Crown Resort. A year of new team members, new clients, new industries and the launch of our brand new The Marketing Room - Mining & Resources Division.

Earlier this year, the OMD Australia team were fortunate to celebrate as one national collective. Part of their return to the office plan included a national conference to reunite OMDers on the Gold Coast, after a few years of being physically apart. On the final night of the conference, they took over the Sea World Plaza for a huge Miami Vice themed party complete with performances, arcade games and rollercoasters.

Houston Group

After being ruined by covid over the past 2 years, Houston Group were excited to get back to their happy place – the pool bar at Elements of Byron Bay!!

Up against 40km/hr gale force winds the agency's flight tried to land twice in Byron only to head back to Sydney. Luckily they got the last flight out of Sydney and landed on the first attempt…woohoo!! Thank god the flights were full service so the agency spent half our party in the air have a laugh.

As soon as we landed all was forgotten and they partied at the Annual White Party at The Farm - harder than the schoolies kids that were trying get into the clubs with their fake IDs.

Celebrating the agency's third Christmas its Sydney team flew to the transformed Collingwood office for a mini rave. Snacksmas had a packed schedule - staff lunch at Bodriggy Brewing, team trivia, Kris Kringle, beer pong and taking to the DJ decks after dark.

"We may have been rejected from the club, but our good vibes will continue long into the new year."
