70 client-side marketers gathered at the Rydges Resort Hunter Valley yesterday for Australia's first summit on in-housing.

Hosted by the In-House Agency Council (IHAC) the event united members and non-members for in-person inspiration, experience sharing and presentations into emerging trends.

Chris Maxwell, executive chairman of IHAC, opened the summit with a snapshot of the in-housing industry, highlighting that four in five marketers are currently doing in-housing.

And the current economic challenges have led to a rise of brands preferring in-house agencies.

In the first keynote, Jeremy Jones, global group creative director and head of campaigns for Wink (Mailchimp's in-house agency), shared how in under three years his in-house agency saved Mailchimp seven million in advertising.

A panel session with Jemma Downey, group GM commercial excellence at Asahi, Guido Derkx, COO at Storyteq and Jackie Nissen, head of digital product at YOUI, shared strategies for futureproofing in-house agency capabilities.

A keynote from Tim O’Neill, founder of Time Under Tension, gave a practical guide to the best AI platforms marketers can use today.

Guido Derkx, co-founder and CCO of Storyteq, made the marketers re-think how their in-house agency approaches content production with a presentation on the key drivers fueling the rise of creative automation.

Nick Thomas and Satya Upadhyaya from -lution explored the seven most common pain points of in-house agencies and how to solve them.

To finish the day, Chris Maxwell hosted a fireside chat with the creative team behind In-House Agency of the Year Canva - Katie Balloch, Michael Webster and Elliot Struck - who are helping to build a global powerhouse from their head office in Sydney.
