
AdNews took over Doltone House in Sydney to host the Agency of the Year Awards over a summer long lunch.
With around 450 attendees flying in from all over Australia and internationally, the awards were judged by senior marketers and the country's leading CMOs. Read their insights into this year's submissions.
The AdNews Agency of the Year Award was handed to independent agency Special Group, the agency also won another six awards including Creative Agency of the Year, Ad Campaign of the Year, the Brand Partnership Award, Social Responsibility/Pro Bono Award, Diversity Award, Game Changer Award and, for Uber, Marketing Team of the Year.
“This is a huge honour in any year, but this is our 10th year,” said CEO Lindsey Evans, accepting the award.
Mark Green, a founder of The Monkeys and the current CEO of Droga5, was inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame.
His fellow founders of The Monkeys, Justin Drape and Scott Nowell, paid tribute to Green before accepting his award.
The award ceremony also paid tribute to marketer Lisa Ronson, who died in a tragic farm accident in Victoria.
Her husband, Chris Taylor, and son, Ben Ronson, both spoke and thanked everyone for their support.
"Over the last few months, it's been an incredibly difficult time for us," said Chris Taylor.
Atomic 212° was named AdNews Media Agency of the Year.
"We're back on the scoreboard it's been seven or eight years I think, so thank you," Atomic 212º CEO Rory Heffernan said on stage when accepting the award with his team.
