Subscription streaming service Paramount+ has unveiled its pipeline of premium local and international content at its 2025 Upfront presentation, spanning entertainment, live sport action, blockbuster films, new originals and more.
Home to Australian original series including Fake and Last King of The Cross, today, Paramount+ together with Screen Australia announced the commission of new original drama series Playing Gracie Darling, produced by Curio Pictures.
An Australian version of the British comedy series Ghosts will be produced together with BBC Studios Productions Australia.
Staycation, a feature-length, live action Christmas movie from Ludo, the producers of Bluey, sees a dysfunctional middle-class family attempt to survive their Christmas break at home, only to find themselves accidentally mixed up with some very dangerous characters.
Jack Steele and Matt Ford, the pair behind The Inspired Unemployed, take on a new venture with the launch of Paramount+ and Network 10 Australian original series The List. Produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia, this six-part series will see the duo set out on an adventure travelling across six countries to complete ‘The List.’
They will also star in another season of The Inspired Unemployed (Impractical) Jokers.
Following the successful debut of Australian series NCIS: Sydney, the second season will arrive in 2025.
On the sporting front, the service remains the streaming home to Australian football, with live coverage of every game of the CommBank Matildas and Subway Socceroos, plus every game of the Men’s and Women’s A-League matches.
Fans can stream all matches of AFC Asian Qualifiers - Road to 26 kicking off this September, plus all Subway Socceroos and CommBank Matildas Friendlies.
The landmark football deal recently signed by Paramount+ will also see the service house the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 being hosted in Australia and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.
As the streaming home to Star Trek, Paramount+ will unveil the original movie Star Trek: Section 31 next year, starring Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh who will reprise her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou. Also joining the Star Trek collection is the all-new original series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.
The additions will round out Paramount+’s extensive Star Trek franchise library, which also includes all seasons of Star Trek: The Original Series; Star Trek: The Next Generation; Paramount+ original series’ Star Trek: Discovery; Star Trek: Picard; Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks, plus the complete line-up of Star Trek films.
The next instalment in the popular Yellowstone Universe – The Madison - stars Michelle Pfeiffer, who also joins as executive producer, and follows a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.
The Madison joins Paramount+’s signature collection of premium drama sagas which includes 1923, 1883, Lioness, Mayor Of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lawmen: Bass Reeves and the upcoming new drama series, Landman.
Further complementing the 2025 international line-up will be new series from SHOWTIME’S Dexter franchise, Dexter: Resurrection, Paramount+ original series NCIS: Tony & Ziva and CBS original medical drama series Watson, Yellowjackets Season Three, 1923 Season Two and The Gilded Age Season Three.
On the children's entertainment front, a new season of the original animated series Tales Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the third season of preschool series DORA, live action film Dora & The Search For Sol Dorado, new episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants, new animated series Super Duper Bunny League and new seasons of Transformers: EarthSpark and Rubble & Crew are all arriving in 2025.
Paramount+ will be bringing a dose of uncensored adult comedy entertainment to screens next year with the season 27 premiere of animated series South Park, with new exclusive events also set to rollout for the franchise, as well as the best of MTV’s exclusive live music events also being broadcast across the year.
2025 will see Paramount+ screen new films including Smile 2, A Quiet Place: Day One, Gladiator II, IF, Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Transformers One.
Still to come in 2024 on Paramount+ is the first Australian iteration of international reality “Shores” franchise, Aussie Shore arriving in October.
Original political espionage thriller The Agency, starring Richard Gere; Taylor Sheridan’s original drama series Landman, starring Billy Bob Thornton; the original prequel series Dexter: Original Sin; NCIS: Origins; Matlock; Star Trek: Lower Decks Season Five; and new season returns of Lioness, Fire Country and Elsbeth will all also arrive in 2024.
