Telecommunications giant Optus has begun a review of its agency arrangements, the business has confirmed.

The pitch comes just months after it named The Works as its direct agency.

An Optus spokesperson confirmed the pitch saying: “Optus has governance requirements for all our agency partners. As part of this, we regularly review our agency roster to ensure we have the right capabilities and contracts in place.

"We have commenced a review of our agency roster and will be conducting closed agency tenders over the next few months.”

AdNews understands that changes cannot be made to certain agency arrangements until April of next year, with several agencies having contracts in place until 2016.

The telco has a wide agency roster. M&C Saatchi, The Works, OgilvyOne and Starcom are all incumbents on the account.

All agencies contacted declined to comment.
