Omnicom agencies in Australia have told staff to work from home starting today as a measure against the spread of the coronavirus.

Local industry insiders confirmed the move includes DDB, BBDO and TBWA.

Omnicom will re-assess in two weeks time. The agencies have been testing servers and systems over the last two weeks to ensure a smooth transition to remote working.

Global CEO John Wren in a note to staff: "We are asking for the support of our agency leaders to make certain our people work remotely and only essential staff go into the office."

Those who need to come in to the office should maintain the recommended social distance.

"We are very pleased to see marked improvements in China and Singapore with our teams starting to get back to business as usual," says Wren.

"Our people there did a great job in keeping their businesses functioning during the past couple of months. I want to thank them and all of you for your efforts now and what we know you will do in the weeks to come.

"Most important, please take the necessary precautions to keep yourself, family, friends, and clients healthy and safe."

WPP and IPG Mediabrands staff are also working remotely from today.
