OMD has scored a third big win this week having today scooped up the media planning and buying account for Target.

As part of a competitive media review, Wesfarmer-owned Target, which did sit with IPG’s UM agency, has appointed OMD Melbourne as its new agency.

Just yesterday OMD retained the Village Roadshow account and on Monday the business took the $48 million Coles account, again, from UM.

Target general manager of marketing, Kenton Elliot, said: “We are thrilled to join forces with the team at OMD to optimise our media planning as we take Target through its next dynamic phase.

“OMD clearly displayed they understood the Target business and have the resources and consumer insights to take us through its next exciting chapter. We want to sincerely say thank you to our previous agency UM for their hard work and dedication to the brand over the past 13 years.”

Speaking to AdNews, OMD Australia CEO Peter Horgan says the fundamentals in the agency’s business are strong and OMD is proud to be working with such a strong retailer through their next phase and beyond.

“There is genuine excitement among the team here and this is pay back for everyone’s hard work,” he says.
