OMD Sydney has appointed Declan O’Dwyer as head of Suncorp, leading the major insurer's media account won by the agency last year.
O’Dwyer has over 12 years’ experience, working across a range of categories including finance, FMCG, telecommunications, automotive and retail.
He joins OMD from his most recent role at UM, Sydney where he was group director across several high-profile brands, including Coca Cola South Pacific and Lion Beer.
“We’ve been searching for the perfect candidate to lead Suncorp and Declan is exactly what we’ve been looking for. His strong leadership qualities and vast industry experience position him perfectly to be a true asset to both Suncorp and the OMD team," OMD Australia CEO Aimee Buchanan says.
According to OMD, he is a proven leader in the media industry, with a reputation for "building high performing" teams and delivering globally recognised work.
O’Dwyer joins other key appointments for Team Suncorp including Thad King and Philippa Moig as business directors, Emily Smith as interactive director, Lisa Leach as head of strategy and David Clugston as head of analytics.

His role as head of Suncorp now completes the team, with O'Dwyer reporting to Kim Hamilton, managing director, OMD Sydney. He will commence September 30, 2019.
