The Sydney office of advertising group OMD closed Friday after an employee developed flu-like symptoms.
The 200 staff were told to work from home. OMD had planned to be back to normal business operations on Monday but staff were told to stay at home as a precaution while test results were still pending.
Foxtel Media also sent staff home on Friday because some had been working at OMD.
"OMD Australia has advised all Sydney employees to work from home today, following reports that one of our OMD London colleagues has come down with flu-like symptoms after visiting Sydney for business (via Singapore),” says Omnicom Media Group CEO Peter Horgan.
“While this is not a confirmed case of coronavirus, we have taken this precautionary measure as the health and safety of our employees is our top priority.
“OMD Australia has also notified all visitors to its Sydney office in the past week.”
The London office of OMD has also been shut.
Omnicom's headquarters has postponed global travel to or from China, Japan, Hong Kong, Iran, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, or Northern Italy.
Omnicom CEO John Wren: "Our first priority – now and always – is the health and safety of our people."
Dentsu in Japan also shut its office this week after an employee tested positive to the coronavirus.
