Nunn Media Sydney, Spin Master, and the Rubik’s Cube team have celebrated the 50th anniversary of the puzzle with beach pop-ups across Bondi, Bronte, Maroubra, and Coogee.
The beach activation featured the backdrop of the Big Cube art installation at Maroubra Beach and was part of an integrated media campaign including social media, video, and native articles, showcasing the legacy of Rubik’s Cube.
The beachside events featured the distribution of limited-edition Rubik’s Cube 50th Anniversary umbrellas and key chains.
The beach activations were designed by Nunn Media Sydney and executed by XO Media Group, with the anniversary celebration extending beyond the beach – reaching fans everywhere with images and video captured from the activations via Rubik’s global social pages, local paid social, YouTube and native content.
Invented in 1974 by Hungarian architect Professor Ernő Rubik, the Rubik’s Cube was originally designed to teach students about three-dimensional spaces. Since its global launch in 1980, the Rubik’s Cube has sold hundreds of millions of units worldwide.
