Last night's episode of Australian Ninja Warrior season two and Seven's House Rules both tied in metro viewership, taking out equal top spot with 838,000 metro viewers.

This is the first time Nine's Ninja hasn't outright captured the top spot since launching last week and was a drop off from Sunday night's 967,000 viewers.

Seven's House Rules continued its rollercoaster ratings run of 2018, capitalising on its momentum from Sunday's episode leading into Monday.

Ten's MasterChef wasn't too far behind, with last night's episode drawing in 815,000 viewers overnight.

Seven and Ten continue to circle Nine's Ninja, as the network's tentpole show continues to bleed ratings, unable to live up to the ratings success of its debut season.

Nine program director Hamish Turner previously told AdNews, that while the show didn't live up to the monster ratings of the season one premiere, the network was confident it would grow viewers over time.

"We're not too worried at this point. This is sometimes what happens and we think it could very well have a different trajectory to what it did last year," he said.

"It was an exceptional number last year and there was the expectation that it might drop off a little this time around, so we'll just see how it tracks with the rest of the season."

Speaking at a launch event last week, Seven West Media CEO Tim Worner alluded to the decline in Ninja's ratings, stating that "the last two night were the most financially significant for Seven this year".

Despite the drop off in Ninja ratings, Nine was still able to secure an overnight main channel share win, with 20% compared to Seven's 18.9%.

Ten remained in third place, with a 15.2% overnight main channel share.

Ten also saw ratings success in the evening spot, as its popular celebrity game show Have You Been Paying Attention? continuing to generate ratings of over 700,000 viewers, with last night's episodes drawing in 737,000.
