Matt James will be moving into a senior strategy role across the wider Nine Group, working closely with Matt Stanton and Dave Ash in strategy as part of the transformation team.

He has served as Nine Melbourne MD for the past four years, re-joining the company in 2020 after previously serving as director of Powered from November 2013 to November 2015 and MD of Mi9 Media for 18 months prior.

In between his stints at Nine, he worked at Publicis Media across both Sydney and London, working in roles such as CEO of Zenith Media ANZ, group CEO ANZ and global brand president of Zenith Media.

An internal note from Stanton to Nine staff said that in line with the structure in the company's Perth and Adelaide teams, Andrea Salmon will take on an expanded role as director of sales and MD of Nine Melbourne and will continue to report to Michael Stephenson.

"Andrea has over 20 years of experience in senior media roles – including leadership positions at Southern Cross Austereo and Bauer (ACP) – and brings a deep understanding of our industry and the Melbourne market," he said.

"She’ll lead our efforts to strengthen the collaboration across our local assets, including Channel 9, 3AW, The Age, and the local AFR bureau.

"Moving forward in Melbourne, Radio will continue to report to Tom Malone, Publishing to Tory Maguire, Television to Michael Healy, and Sales to Michael Stephenson. Matt’s Managing Director responsibilities are currently being transitioned over to Andrea, who will focus on ensuring our business remains connected across all levels and with our partners in Melbourne."
