Nine's head of communications goes in restructure

Victoria Buchan, Nine Entertainment's head of communications, has been made redundant.

Acting CEO Matt Stanton made the announcement in an email to staff today.

"Vic and I have agreed terms for her to leave the business as we go about restructuring the corporate roles to create a much-needed Regulatory specialist lead for the business," he said.

Nine has been cutting staff this year in the face of economic headwinds, a subdued advertising market and a loss of revenue from Meta.

Buchan joined Nine in 2010, working on the move from a private equity to an ASX-listed company and on the merger with Fairfax.

"We’ve come a long way since those days," she told staff.

"I’m looking forward to some family time over the summer and then getting stuck back into some projects or opportunities to work in the industry I love and know so well."

She finishes up at the end of November.

Nine Entertainment posted a 31% fall to $134.9 million in net profit after tax for the year to June in a challenging market.  Revenue was down 3% to $2.6 billion.

Total TV revenue fell 10% to $1.13 billion over the full year, impacted by a "weak" advertising market which continued into the September quarter.
