Nine has promoted Lizzie Young to the newly-created role of group content strategy director.
In the role, Young will be charged with driving Nine's approach to the distribution and commercialisation of its content assets and will report directly to Nine CEO Hugh Marks.
Young was previously director of innovation, partnership and client experience at Nine, and is well-respected internally and in the industry.
Speaking to AdNews, Young says the move “ultimately combines content and commercial” as Nine continues to focus on distribution.
“Our challenge moving forward is how to do we get more Aussies watching it, how do we ensure we are everywhere Australians want us to be,” Young says.
Young will be tasked with opening up more platforms and looking at more effective ways to distribute.
Talking about the move, Marks said it was a sign of the company's emphasis on ensuring it is focused on building new revenue streams and exploring partnership in key areas of audience growth. The network invests $700 million every year on content, creation and distribution.
“Young has the background to help drive not only greater defectiveness in our our current business model, but also how we innovate the way we create, distribute and commercialise our content assets to adapt with changing audience behaviour,” Marks says.
