Former News Corp CCO Sharb Farjami has resurfaced at Foxtel weeks after announcing his exit from the publisher.
He joins Foxtel’s content and wholesale team as director of content commercialisation, working directly with Foxtel MD Deanne Weir.
In the position he will create new revenue streams for Foxtel and its content partners and will work closely with advertising partner MCN.
Weir says: “With an incredible portfolio of channel brands and the world’s greatest television programming, Foxtel has a unique opportunity to leverage its assets to expand and develop existing and new revenue streams for the business. We are delighted that Sharb is joining us to combine his wealth of experience with our brands and content to ignite our full commercial potential.
Farjami announced his exit from News Corp earlier this month. He had only been in the CCO position for seven months. Prior to that, he had been News Corp Australia’s director of national sales for more than two years.
He joined News from Mindshare, where he was chief operating officer. He started his career in subscription television and has worked with Viacom in various commercial roles around the globe.
Since joining the company two years ago, Farjami has overseen significant changes in News Corp’s approach to sales, including the integration of network sales and NewsLifeMedia sales teams.
Farjami says: "I'm delighted to join Foxtel at such an exciting time for the company, its new management team and the content industry in general. The quality of global TV has never been better and Foxtel is positioned perfectly to drive better outcomes for consumers and commercial partners alike. I'm also extremely happy to be staying within the broader News Corp family and be part of such an ambitious global media business."
News Corp and Foxtel moves
In November last year News Corp officially revealed its new management with Michael Miller and Peter Tonagh taking up the top jobs at the company. Tonagh then exited News to become Foxtel CEO in March of this year.
In June former Coles and Woolies top marketer, Tony Phillips, took a full-time role as News Corp's CMO. Last week it was announced PacMags CEO Peter Zavecz was joining the News Corp team, as well as Nicole Sheffield and Lou Barrett.
