Young advertisers from J. Walter Thompson, R/GA, UM and Carat have won the Australian leg of the Young Lions competition and will go on to represent Australia at Cannes next month.
At an event held in Sydney last night, News Corp, a sponsor of the Cannes Lions, announced the winners of the Young Lions competition in three categories: print, cyber and media.
In print, JWT’s Giles Clayton and Simon Hayes took at the prize, while R/GA’s Kate Allan and Dane Van Veen won the Cyber category.
UM and Carat QLD’s Nelson Demartini and Roisin Rafferty took top position in the media category.
The winners were determined by a panel of 100 industry judges from 28 shortlisted teams, after being given a 24 hour brief by competition sponsors Archibald/Williams, UM and Carat.
News Corp Australia chief commercial officer - network sales Sharb Farjami says with more than 550 entrants, the winners were well deserving of the prize.
“We built and developed the Young Lions competition to foster up and coming talent in the agency community and give them the opportunity to compete on a world stage,” Farjami says.
“Sincere congratulations to the very talented teams who will get the opportunity to represent Australia in Cannes this year.
“Best of luck to the teams travelling to Cannes – I know you will do your country proud.”
