News Corp’s increased focus on premium content and multimedia storytelling has paid dividends, according to executive chairman Michael Miller.

“We have a growing audience and a record audience, and they’re growing because they’re digitally oriented. Additionally, our clients are wanting to spend more time and more money on digital,” he told The Australian.

He says the printed newspapers continued to be an integral part of the media organisation’s mix and was funding investment with digital.

“We’ve been employing video editors, podcast editors and data scientists, and we’re investing in AI and other forms of technology to ensure we’re reaching audiences in different ways,” he said.

News Corp last month announced its December quarter results, showing a 3% fall in revenue in Australia. The media group plans to cut 5% of its headcount, about 1,250 people, in 2023.
